Back from the Vanoise
Well, it’s been a bit quiet on this blog over the last couple of weeks. It’s not that I haven’t been up to anything interesting — rather the opposite really. I delayed my summer holiday a little this year, and followed a long weekend in Scotland (part of which is described in this post) with a few days at home in Cambridge, and a week’s trekking in the Vanoise Alps.
This was a much shorter escapade than the 13 days’ trekking that made up last year’s Walkers’ Haute Route. And yet the variety packed into 6 days surpassed the longer trek in my opinion. Given that the “Tour of the Vanoise Glaciers” (which seems to be what this route is generally known as) is restricted to a small corner of the Parc National de la Vanoise, the possibilities for extended trips in this area, and in the neighbouring Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso across the border in Italy, are quite exciting. So many mountains — so little time.
I’ll be blogging about this trip more in the near future, and posting some more photos. Also in progress are posts about WordPress plugins I’ve implemented on the blog, and an update on the catalog issues I was having with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

This brings back memories of a 2007 trip, shortly before the Postcard from Timperley was started. I still have to write a report, but a slideshow was loaded here:

You’ll probably need to cut and paste the link. Best to view in ‘Full Screen’, and click on ‘Show Info’ if you want the captions.
Cheers

Great pics Martin. Looks as though a good half of your route was the same as what Martin and I did. (We started and finished in Pralognan, completing an anti-clockwise circuit.) I’ll get that gallery up soon!
